Come Ride in the Cinco de Mayo Parade!

Cinco de Mayo Parade 2012We invite everyone to ride in this years’ Cinco de Mayo Big Parade and Festival on Jefferson Blvd, May 5th.  The parade will start at 11 AM, however if you’re interested in riding with BFOC, here are the instructions:

  • Sign-in upon arrival to participate (*The parade organizers require us to have a list of everyone participating.  If you show up late or don’t sign up prior to 10:30 am, you will not be able to ride in the parade)
  • Arrive for line-up between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
  • Meet Up Location:  Centre Street at Van Buren Street
  • Map of route

Below are the guidelines for awards to be judged.  If you’d like, you may decorate your bicycle or yourself while adhering to the following guidelines. 

*Please be culturally respectful with your decorations or attire


Best Hand-crafted Float Contest – $1000 Award
Wow! What a great way to show your artistic talent and cultural pride.  The contest is open to any individual or organization residing in the city of Dallas or surrounding cities and must adhere to City of Dallas ordinances that set basic requirements of parade float construction,  And the following:
1) Must adhere to the Cinco de Mayo theme – 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, 2) Excellent craft & design, 3) Aesthetic excellence, 4) Creativity/Originality, 5) Presentation & Spectator Response. Judged by a panel of volunteer judges – Judge Tim Gonzalez & Mrs. Zaida Gonzalez, co-chairs.
1st Place Best: $1,000
2nd Place Best: $500
3rd Place Best: $250
$100 & Trophy for 1st Place Best & Tropies for 2nd & 3rd Place Best in the following categories:
Best Decorated Vehicle; Best Marching/Walking; Best Musical; Best Dancing; Best Bicycle; Best Zumba; Best Character/Mascot; Best Animal(s)/Pet; Best Professional Float (trophy only)
