A host of activity will be happening on May 17th, better known as Nation Bike to Work Day! Bike Friendly Oak Cliff is working with BikeDFW and DART to host its first Energizer Station, modeled off of past events originally created by Bike Friendly Richardson. There will be 4 other such stations hosted in Dallas and surrounding cities. Go to bikedfw.org for more details!

But, BFOC does things a bit differently down here across the river. We are hoping to make it the most outrageous Energizer Station to date. We’ll give you a hint: Think loud and fun, with a bit of authentic Oak Cliff culture!

Along with all of that fun, we’ll have snacks, beverages, and we’ll be providing bicycle safety checks for folks crossing the Jefferson St Viaduct by bicycle in the new temporary cycle track.

We have several sponsoring businesses including, KIND Healthy Snacks, Zang Triangle apartments, Oak Cliff Bicycle Company and Oak Cliff Cargo Bicycles

The Energizer Station will be open from 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM and will be located directly in the Jefferson St Viaduct’s newly installed cycle track.

A big thank you to our sponsors!

For years, Jason Roberts has been busy making Dallas a better place one project at a time but now he needs your help! In 2012, Jason was diagnosed with testicular cancer. After chemotherapy, radiation and surgery he was pronounced cancer free, but while the cancer is gone Roberts still has $40,000 in medical bills

The Kessler Theater in partnership with Go Oak Cliff and Jason Roberts supporters can help Jason fight the costs of his cancer battle. There will be a bike ride, live music and an art auction. The event is $25, but additional donations of any amount of are encouraged. All proceeds will go toward helping Jason erase his medical debt

The “I Bike Jason” bikeride will begin outside of Eno’s at 7:00 p.m. and end at the Kessler. Wearing Jason inspired gear is part of the fun. Comments by special guest will begin at the Kessler at 8:00 and the bands and art auction will begin shortly therafter. Some of Jason’s favorite bands and artist have donated their talents to help raise money. Those bands include John Singer Sergeant – of the Deathray Davies, Austin sensations the White Ghost Shivers, R&B legend Bobby Patterson plus a few surprises.

“Jason is a tremendous person,” said Edwin Cabaniss, Kessler Theater owner. “He gives to his community tirelessly. Build a Better Jason is a way for everyone who knows, loves and appreciates him to help him close the book on his fight with cancer.”

Traffic Skills 101 facilitated by Bike DFW :

Traffic Skills 101 (TS101) gives cyclists the confidence they need to ride safely and legally in traffic or on the trail. Through TS101, students learn how to conduct bicycle safety checks, fix a flat, on-bike skills and crash avoidance techniques. We recommended this class for adults and children above age fourteen. The curriculum is fast-paced, and prepares cyclists for a full understanding of vehicular cycling. Register Here Today!

ABOUT DADA
The Dallas Art Dealers Association is an affiliation of established

independent gallery owners and nonprofit art organizations in the Dallas
metropolitan area. As a professional and educational resource for the
community at large, DADA facilitates the Edith Baker Art Scholarship and
Artist Career Development Fund, which provides financial and career
support for visual art students through multiple programs. DADA also
presents the Spring Gallery Walk and Fall Gallery Walk. Organized in
1985 by June Mattingly of Mattingly Baker Gallery, the Dallas Art Dealers
Association is a 501(c)(6) organization.

Like the Art Dealers Association of America, membership in DADA is by
invitation of the board of directors. In order to qualify for membership,
a dealer or nonprofit space must have an established reputation for
honesty, integrity, and professionalism among its peers, and must make
a substantial contribution to the cultural life of the community by offering
works of high aesthetic quality and presenting worthwhile exhibitions.
DADA is dedicated to promoting the highest standards of ethical practice
within the profession and to increasing public awareness of the role and
responsibilities of reputable art dealers and nonprofit visual art spaces.

ABOUT THE EDITH BAKER ART SCHOLARSHIP
AND ARTIST CAREER DEVELOPMENT FUND
To celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2005, DADA created a scholarship
honoring a respected member of the Dallas art community and one of
its founding members, Edith Baker. Edith owned and directed The Edith
Baker Gallery in Dallas for nearly thirty years before retiring in 2004. Every
year, the Edith Baker Art Scholarship and Artist Career Development
Fund, a 501(c)(3), financially benefits a student pursuing the study of
visual arts along with giving that student a gallery internship, a mentor,
and an artist studio visit. The scholarship also presents a career fair at
Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts,
two juried exhibitions of Booker T and Dallas County Community College
students’ artwork, a docent-training program, biannual educational events,
and Art Chicas and Art Chicos at La Reunion TX.
