Oak Cliff Bike News

BFOC’s Valentine’s Day group ride will be announced very shortly. We’ve lined up a prize, theme, and more. It looks like this may be one of our most fun rides to date. Stay tuned for updates.

Just got word from the Oak Cliff Bicycle Company that they’re now carrying Velo Orange products. Anyone who’s fans of classic bike parts like porteur racks, copper bells, hammered fenders, and more will be happy to see their solid collection in town. VO products are perfect for outfitting your bike for the next tweed ride.

OC’s sister city, Denton, is holding its second annual music festival, NX35, which begins March 11th and will feature some incredible bands including the Flaming Lips and a speaking gig by legendary producer Steve Albini. We’ve been talking to the folks at BikeDenton and have overheard plans for a pretty phenomenal bicycling sound installation. If anyone is familiar with the Lips’ car stereo experiment, it’s along the same lines.

This Thursday, we’re planning on continuing our Morning Coffee Rides to Work, starting at Espumoso Cafe at 7:30AM in Bishop Arts. 40% chance of precipitation, so be sure to nab some rain pants.

This Saturday and Sunday (Jan 16-17), BikeDFW is offering discounted rates on their Traffic Skills 101 course. Sign up to learn the skills you need to take to the streets of Dallas.

Lastly, applications are due this Friday for the city’s bicycle consultant. We should have details about who all has thrown their name into the hat soon.

  1. Any word on the frame building courses?

  2. Yes! The guys at the Bike shop met with Glenn from Daltex on Sunday. They’re putting together something now. Sorry for the delay on this. The holiday’s threw everything out of whack.

  3. Perfectly understandable! I’m starting up more welding courses, traveling to South Padre Island for my brother’s wedding, all just AFTER the holidays. Can’t wait for the frame classes! 🙂
