This Saturday evening, the Fixed Touring guys will be hosting an Alley Kat race at Four Corners Brewing Co.  If you’ve never been to an Alley Kat or don’t know what one is, read their description here, and see the event here:

On July 13 2013 Fixed Touring will embark upon a mission to provide the city of Dallas with a bicycle race like they have never seen!

What is the problem with bicycle racing as it is, you say? Well, touring races are very long and fairly uneventful not to mention hard to watch. Criteriums are easier to watch, but repetitive. The Alley-Cat — now there’s a race! However, it is probably the hardest to observe due to the sporadic and unpredictable nature. Solution: we are going to wrap an action packed Alley-Cat around the spectators. Watch as the bravest cyclists in town battle it out through stations and over obstacles to be the first victor of the Fixed Touring Mini-Cat.

Four Corners Brewing will be selling pints of delicious cold beer, and tours of the brewery will be available. And food trucks will be on site to provide the eats.

There will be a small $5 entry fee for those Racing with prizes going to the top finishers. Must bring your own bike and wear a Helmet.

We will also have NEW t-shirts on sale and FREE stickers.

Fixed Touring will target riders/non-riders alike and a focus will be placed on developing cycling communities, enhancing cycling awareness, developing active transportation infrastructure and promoting community cycling events.

Fixed Touring seeks to improve citizen’s attitudes, self-efficacy and perception through a person-oriented and community-driven program, successfully implementing bicycle touring and transportation in conjunction with the recently passed Dallas Bike Plan, local business funding and community organization support.
