In preparation for the Oak Cliff Art Crawl this weekend, we’re planning on posting something each day in regards to events and happenings occurring throughout North Oak Cliff. Today, we wanted to focus on the three pop-up businesses being installed for the weekend:
Philospophia Cafe, 415 N. Tyler
Saturday 10am-8pm; Sunday 10am-6pm
This fun little outdoor cafe is being headed up by Nova Cox and the non-profit group Oak Cliff Center for Community Studies. This group is responsible for working with area students and involving them with local community projects to help foster stronger communities. Coffee will be provided by our favorite Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters. Be sure to stop by and pick up an Oak Cliff Art Crawl button for $10 that gives you discounts to area businesses. All proceeds go to Go Oak Cliff and the Seventh Street Mural Project.
Rock, Paper, Scissors
833 W. Seventh Street
Sat & Sun 10am-6pm
A kid’s art studio lead by Kayli House of Studio Art House, and Shannon Driscoll of Paper Nerds. Classes will be available throughout the day for children to explore the arts and create with their hands.
Wigwam, 407A N. Tyler St.
From their facebook page: A Collaborative of homegirls who love to hangout, take part in community activism, organize and promote events close to our heart, and assume special projects on a whim because we love working toward the greater good.
The effort is being lead by Malina Pearson, Holly Jefferson, Amanda Pounds, Jennifer Dunn, Shannon Driscoll, Cynthia Mulcahy, and Leila Grothe. These ladies have done an amazing job of turning a small, dark space into something lively and exciting. You have to swing by just to see all of the community made gifts and ephemera they’ve assembled. It’s inspiring. View their facebook page with more pics here.
