More Bikes on the Train in 2011

Andrea Roberts forwarded us this pic of three bikes on the train  from her morning DART commute.  Looks like we might be seeing greater ridership for 2011.

  1. is this the red line? Impressive.

When it was warmer I was riding from Winnetka Heights to the Tyler-Vernon station. It was by far my favorite way of commuting and I fully plan to do it again.

I frequently get on the blue line train going to Garland and don’t have a place to put my bike coming from Downtown.

  3. I was heading N from Mockingbird on the red this morning.. counting me, we had 4.. actually it was a bit crowded. Too bad they can’t throw bike racks on the side of the train 😦

  4. In California they have trains that hold up to 40 bikes! Imagine that.

    On Caltrain and heading home

The design of the DART trains is rather inefficient. If only they had built the trains and stations for level boarding from the beginning; no stairs or narrow aisles. But then who would have guessed 20 years ago that Light Rail could be so successful in Dallas?

  5. Man, one time I tried to take my bike from the West End to Lovers Lane during rush hour. The train car was so crowded that I got crammed against a door. Luckily it was the door that opened at the station and I was able to get out 😛
