CICLOVIA IS

A chance to experience a place without cars and meet new friends.  Streets are closed off to auto traffic – bikes, trikes, skaters, roller bladers and walkers take over!

WHERE IS CICLOVIA?

The Houston St Viaduct bridge has connected Downtown and Oak Cliff for a hundred years.  The Viaduct is an easy walk from Downtown via Houston Street.  Parking is abundant and DART’s Union Station has service from all lines.

  1. This looks like fun. How on earth did you ever get the city to agree to shut down the viaduct?

  2. Tex, it’s the Houston St bridge. $75 permit is all it took. Most roads can be shutdown temporarily using a special events permit. See ya there!

  3. Some cities do this once a month — typically on Sundays. I hope this becomes a once a month event in Dallas!

We will be there doing bicycle powered Smoothies — healthy and good!

  4. yep, and that’s the plan we hope that the city takes on. We’re a small organization and this is quite a bit of work for us, but we’re happy to get the ball rolling. We had a meeting with the city of Dallas’ Quality of Life committee yesterday, and we expect the city to take it over at some point! http://cityhallblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2012/03/another-bridge-party-perhaps-c.html

  5. […] SEE WHO IS COMING TO THIS YEARS EVENT! […]

  6. CyclingSavvy DFW http://cyclingsavvydfw.org will be there as well! We look forward to meeting folks and enjoying the festivities.

Hope the weather continues to be awesome for this! Really couldn’t ask for a more bike friendly spring. 🙂
