High Line Inspired Better Bridge Demonstration set for Cedar Crest Bridge

On October 22nd, we’ll be launching our first “Better Bridge” project alongside the City of Dallas, taking two lanes of the Cedar Crest Bridge which connects South Dallas to East Oak Cliff, and converting it into a large pedestrian and bike esplanade complete with landscaping, seating, historical markers, and more. The project is being developed to test the potential to permanently readapt the bridge and create a destination which links both sides of the river, while providing access to the Trinity Trail. New York’s HighLine and Austin’s Lady Bird pedestrian bridge are inspirations for the initiative. LandscapeForms will be helping us pull this project together by providing street furniture and other amenities.

BFOC’s “Hit the Road Jack” History Group ride of Ray Charles’ South Dallas will cross the bridge as part of the tour. More details on the ride here, and on facebook here.
