Tonight (Thursday) the free TX Tough Grand Prix II in Victory Park will allow spectators to quaff cocktails while watching lycra-clad cyclists pedaling at speeds faster than you can drive on Woodall Rodgers at rush hour.
For the rest of us – whether you ride a fixed-gear, cruiser, mountain bike, or a tricycle – Sunday morning’s 8 a.m., all-ages, 6.2-mile Bike Bash around downtown features a “traffic-free” course “designed so the entire community can feel safe while riding a bicycle.” It’s a fundraiser for Children’s Medical Center, with registration fees ranging from $5 for kids, $15 for students, and $30 per adult up to $70 for a family of four. Online registration closes Saturday; it’s an extra $10 if you pay when you arrive at the event.
